Spay/Neuter Programs

Northern Oklahoma along with the entire United States has a severe pet overpopulation problem that results in millions of healthy animals being killed for lack of homes.

Did you know…  Sterilization of your pet will increase his/her chance of a longer and healthier life. Altering your furry friend will increase his/her life an average of 3 to 5 years. Altered animals have a very low to no risk of mammary gland tumors/cancer, prostate cancer, perianal tumors, uterine, ovarian and testicular cancers. Sterilizing your pet makes him/her a better pet, reducing his/her urge to roam and decreasing the risk of contracting diseases or getting hurt as they roam.

Our spay/neuter programs focus on combating pet overpopulation in Kay County and Western Osage County through donations. Area veterinarians have agreed to work with our programs to help pet owners fix their pet(s) who otherwise couldn’t afford to spay or neuter their companion animals. It allows qualifying individuals to get their pet spayed/neutered at a reduced cost or even free.

The Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Voucher Program is designed to help residents in Kay County & Western Osage County with spay and neuter services. Those who meet the income guidelines and qualify for the program will receive a voucher that offers a discount for the surgery. To apply, simply come to the Humane Society on Wednesdays, from 10 a.m.-Noon or the 2nd Saturday from 10 a.m.-Noon.

The Spay It Forward Certificate Program is a special fund created to assist residents in Kay County & Western Osage County with spay and neuter services. It helps cover some or all of the cost of spay/neuter surgery, for income-qualified pet owners.  All funds will be allocated based on need and a limited number of certificates are available. The availability of funds for this program will be directly proportional to the donations received for the program.

There is a solution to this tragedy in which everyone can participate. By spaying or neutering companion animals, we can end these unwanted births and reduce the needless suffering that homeless animals endure.

**The Spay It Forward Program relies solely on the generosity of individuals in our community. So, without your support, we cannot help pet owners in need.
